The British Columbia (B.C.) provincial government’s crown corporation, Forestry Innovation Consulting India Pvt Ltd (FII India), widely known as Canadian Wood, successfully held a seminar titled “Canadian Wood – A Sustainable Solution” at Taj Hari Mahal, Jodhpur. This seminar brought together manufacturers from the Indian woodworking industry and furniture-buying home members to explore the environmental benefits, certifications, and uses of sustainably sourced Canadian wood species in detail. It also provided visitors with a networking opportunity and allowed them to participate in interactive discussions on sustainably sourced wood species

Major highlights of the seminar

The seminar’s highlights were the enlightening presentations from the expert team of Canadian Wood that included Pranesh Chhibber, Country Director, Jimmy Thomas, Assistant Director – Technical Services; and Rambeer Singh Yadav, Assistant Director – Business Development. All these professionals discussed the uses, eco-friendliness, certification, and environmental benefits of Canadian wood species offering the visitors an all-round understanding of the raw material’s potential in different manufacturing and woodworking scenarios.

The seminar commenced with an opening speech by Pranesh Chhibber. His speech highlighted the importance of sustainable wood practices and its standard certifications that stand for Canadian Wood’s pledge towards promoting solutions that promote eco-friendly solutions in the wood product manufacturing industries. Thereafter, Jimmy Thomas held an in-depth discussion on the technical and environmental benefits of using certified wood species. Lastly, Rambeer Singh Yadav presented case studies and pictures to show how Canadian Wood species can be used for various applications.

Pranesh Chhibber, Country Director, Canadian Wood, shared his experience that Jodhpur is a huge market for them and has the largest number of manufacturers that live in a single city. He further spoke on their engagement with leading players in the city and stressed the huge potential of the market with the knowledge of newer materials including softwood. He also described the experience of holding the seminar in Jodhpur as remarkable. Lastly, he appreciated the audience’s knowledge and experience, mentioning that they asked meaningful questions that made the collaboration a pleasure.

Visitors actively participated in the seminar and got a chance to be a part of interactive Q&A sessions. The seminar also allowed them to build networks that facilitated the exchange of ideas and possible partnerships.
