Are builders prioritising heat pumps in new buildings? | Sustainable Comfort Conclave 2025

The Sustainable Comfort Conclave by Racold was an event that featured the panellists discussing the idea of retrofitting water heaters and heat pumps, addressing the most common client inquiries about sustainability, providing instances and solutions of on-ground development in India, and much more. The conversations were about how homeowners’ priorities have changed in recent years, particularly concerning incorporating contemporary sustainable comfort technologies such as heat pump solutions into residential buildings. Air conditioning was once thought of as a luxury extra, but it is now a commonplace fixture in upscale homes and apartment complexes. It is now a default inclusion, so customers don’t need to install it later. The residential buildings sector is evolving to offer more upscale, luxurious and sustainable living. This trend was highlighted at the Sustainable Comfort Conclave 2025.

The increasing use of water heating systems as standard equipment in new construction is one example of this trend. Heat pumps are becoming more and more seen by builders as necessary elements of contemporary living rather than as optional extras. The projects Racold has undertaken over the past two years demonstrate this change. Manufacturers now integrate heat pumps into building plans from the very beginning. This is especially true for 40-story and high-rise towers.

Embracing innovation for sustainable living

Heat pumps meet the growing demand for comfort and eco-friendly living. They are also more efficient and use less energy. High-end dwelling complexes are consequently adopting more and more contemporary water heating technologies. This is a significant step toward more environmentally friendly building practices and enhances the overall quality of life for homeowners.

The Sustainable Comfort Conclave 2025, a first-of-its-kind heat pump event, was organised by Racold in Delhi and co-powered by BuildingandInteriors. The event brought together India’s top architects, MEP experts, plumbers, and real estate developers, offering a wealth of new perspectives and insights. Topics included environmental objectives, planning and installation advice, and the evolution of smart bathroom design.
