Together, they will shape the workplaces and homes of tomorrow. This year’s trade show was infused with enthusiasm, positivity, meaningful discussions and a drive to change. The central theme for the event was “Rethinking Resources: Circular and Bio-based Solutions”, and the industry responded very much in alignment with the theme. Stakeholders showed their commitment to accepting a more sustainable and energy-efficient future.

The exhibitors’ feedback shows that the quality of trade visitors at the show is consistently valuable, as the discussions between industry professionals are of the highest level. Furthermore, Cologne has maintained its credibility as an exceptional venue for hosting international furniture and interior design trade shows. They are organizing events with international appeal by working closely with a committed sector.

The successfully organized trade show gathered top suppliers to the interior design and furniture industry in Cologne. Trade visitors from all important sales markets gathered to talk about the exciting developments happening within the industry. Furthermore, they formed partnerships and came up with practical solutions to present-day challenges. The countries with the highest number of visitors included Italy, Spain, China, the Netherlands and Poland.

“Rethinking Resources” – The event’s main focus resonates with stakeholders

interzum 2025’s main area of focus was “Rethinking Resources: Circular and Bio-based Solutions”. It walked the talk by using foams made from waste, effective zinc recycling systems and recycled fibres made from HDF and MDF boards. Sustainability was evident at many exhibitor stalls.

The trade fair had a complete overview of the industry with three exhibition segments, namely – materials & nature, function & components and textile & machinery. Furthermore, these segments were flowing with innovation and quality specialist content. Cologne also saw the release of many product launches, which emphasized the pace of development in the industry.

The central theme of the event shone through the exhibitors’ product presentations and the diverse event programme. interzum 2025 had three trend forums, which held insightful discussions influencing the future of the industry. Key discussions included Digital Product Passport as the key to a circular economy and biocircular materials, and resource-efficient furniture design.

Renowned experts in the field gave excellent presentations detailing valuable insights into international trends, giving well-researched market analyses and discussing nuances of the prevailing regulatory environment. The Product Stage gave practical advice for new products, most effective practices and strategies directly from the exhibitors. It showed that the industry itself is driving the transition to a sustainable tomorrow.

In 2025, the interzum award featured a link to the main theme of the event with the addition of a special category – “Rethinking Resources”. The award received a total of 146 entries submitted by 80 companies from 23 countries. Out of which, 66 exceptionally modern innovations, including 12 entries, were given the highest distinction of “Best of the Best”. The award-winning products received appreciation from the visitors and were displayed in an exhibition on Boulevard North.

In 2025, interzum created an environment with a daily happy hour event that was conducive to in-depth discussions and networking with #ILoveMyinterzum. With a laid-back atmosphere, it created a space ideal for reinforcing the bond within the global community.
