Canadian Wood hosted a seminar in Ahmedabad emphasising the potential of wood in construction and woodworking industries

Canadian Wood, established in 2013, operating under the name of  Forestry Innovation Consulting India Pvt. Ltd. (FII India), recently hosted an insightful seminar titled “Wood a Sustainable and Renewable Material.” This informative and engaging seminar by Canadian Wood was held at the Courtyard by Marriott in Ahmedabad on 12 June 2025 and was attended by leading professionals from the woodworking industry and notable architects, developers, and manufacturers, offering them a platform to share their knowledge. The seminar focused on the increasing importance of sustainably sourced, eco-friendly wood in the world of modern design, architecture, and manufacturing.

The engaging seminar commenced with an informative presentation by Gajanan Pathak from Canadian Wood. His speech emphasised the sustainability of the wood from B.C. Canada. Furthermore, he also highlighted the versatility of their wood. Thereafter, Ujjaval Parekh, Architect at Reasoning Instincts Architecture Studio, shared his firsthand personal insights and experiences on integrating wood into his projects. 

The presentation was further followed by an insightful panel discussion that was led by the Country Director of Canadian Wood, Pranesh Chhibber. Furthermore, Jimmy Thomas, the panel discussion moderator, put forward his perspectives on the sustainability, benefits and versatile applications of the B.C. wood. There were other panellists present during the discussion, namely, Vishwas Sonigara, Devdatt Pandya, Sharvil Shridhar, and Rama Krishna Rao, who shared their in-depth insights on the importance of wood in construction and design. They also discussed the versatile application, durability, and benefits of wood in the construction industry.

All the valuable insights and information shared by the industry professionals drew attention to the increasing importance of responsibly sourced wood and the role it plays in bringing more eco-friendly materials into use. Pranesh Chhibber, Country Director of Canadian Wood, shared his insights at the seminar. He mentioned that the woodworking industry in India is continuously growing and how it’s critical to support materials that are sustainable as well as renewable. He further added that responsibly sourced wood is more than just being eco-friendly; it is much more efficient in performance and aesthetics. In addition to this, he highlighted the benefits of Canadian wood species and how it is significant to the environment. Lastly, he shared that the occurrence of such an informative seminar allows for an exchange of thoughts with industry stakeholders.
