Drop ceilings are made of tiles fixed on a metal framework below the original ceiling of a room. Also known as suspended ceilings, the 3 main types of ceiling grids are:
- Clip-in: These feature a grid of metal runners that are paired with tiles with the help of clips that hold them in place.

- Hook-on: Hook-on tiles are used when you do not want the ceiling framework to be visible. These tiles are made of metal, foam, and vinyl.

- Lay-in: Here, a support grid is installed on which tiles are laid. These are easy to replace.
