Hansgrohe Group presented a partnership for greywater recycling at ISH 2025

The “Green Vision” bathroom, introduced by the Hansgrohe Group, which focuses on the sustainable use of water, launched two years ago, created an impact. The frequently asked question was when the futuristic bathroom with up to 90 percent less water and energy consumption would be introduced in the market for the users. Hans Jürgen Kalmbach, CEO, Hansgrohe Group, spoke about the Green Vision bathroom being an inspiring invitation that makes people rethink their use of water in everyday life and develop water-saving technology. He further added that the Hansgrohe group, comprising Axor and hansgrohe, partnered with Hydraloop, an experienced partner, to display  Hydraloop’s greywater recycling solution live at the ISH trade fair in Frankfurt

The state-of-the-art greywater recycling system is an innovative water-saving technology

The Green Vision bathroom embraces the concept of sustainable use of water. Building on this vision, Hansgrohe has teamed up with Hydraloop, an innovative company from the Netherlands, to introduce a greywater recycling system. Hansgrohe has always been committed to sustainable water management, with its earlier Pontos system (offered between 2003 and 2011) being a trailblazer in the efficient reuse of grey water. Now, with Hydraloop’s advanced technology, Hansgrohe is taking the next step, using cutting-edge features like IoT connectivity, minimal maintenance, and improved efficiency.

This compact, cabinet-sized system collects wastewater from showers, bathtubs, washing machines, and even condensation water from heat pumps, air conditioning systems, and tumble dryers. The greywater, thoroughly cleaned and disinfected through an innovative biological process, provides high-quality, certified recycled water.

Hans Jürgen Kalmbach explained that keeping a balance between user experience, efficiency, resource conservation, and meeting regulatory requirements is no easy task. With the growing demand for green building certifications, many projects now need to meet sustainability criteria to get planning approval. He further added that both Axor and hansgrohe believe this reliable solution will help unlock the potential of greywater recycling, especially for hotels, public buildings, and any construction projects focused on sustainability.  Moreover, they also stand for policy changes to allow for greater water reuse in buildings.

Hansgrohe Group at ISH

Hansgrohe Group believes in the idea of broadening one’s horizons, which drives its journey of innovation. By partnering with forward-thinking, dynamic innovators, the company develops and quickly brings cutting-edge water technologies such as greywater recycling to market. Through these collaborations, Hansgrohe Group continues to strengthen its innovation capabilities and solidify its role as a leader in sustainable solutions aimed at addressing the global water and energy crises.

At Hansgrohe’s ISH trade fair booth, in the ‘Sustainable Living’ section, technologies focusing on water recycling, heat recovery, and optimizing drinking water were put on display. Each design helps users reduce their ecological impact in daily life.

Hans Juergen Kalmbach talked about how showering is more than just about staying physically clean. To make sure this enjoyable experience doesn’t come at the cost of valuable resources, they’ve integrated innovative water-saving technologies like greywater recycling with broader solutions. He spoke about their partnership with Hydraloop as a great example of how they’re reimagining sustainable water use, all while keeping design and comfort intact.
