Celebrating a century of comfort living: STIEBEL ELTRON marks 100 years in business

The beginning of a success story: The “ELTRON” company is founded on 5th May 1924 by Dr. Theodor Stiebel in Berlin, Germany. In his backyard workshop in Berlin, he invents and produces the immersion heater, thus opening the first chapter of STIEBEL ELTRON’s successful company history. This was just the beginning: in the 1970s, STIEBEL ELTRON started producing heat pumps and solar collectors, establishing itself as a pioneer in the field of renewable energies.

Dr. Theodor Stiebel’s inventions were also proof of his vision, as 100 years ago, he already recognized the potential of electricity as a universal form of energy. Today, in the age of renewable energies, this insight is more forward-looking than ever.

Evolution and innovation: 100 Years of milestones for STIEBEL ELTRON

The 100-year timeline of STIEBEL ELTRON dates back to 1924 when the company ‘ELTRON’ was founded in Bedin, Germany. Dr Theodor Stiebel started manufacturing the coil immersion he invented. In 1949, the company developed and started manufacturing its first hydraulic instant water heater. It was the year 1976 when STIEBEL ELTRON, as one of the first manufacturers of heat pumps, began its development and production. Even today, close to 5 decades later, the company is a technology leader in heat pumps. In 1987, the company revolutionised the water heating market when it introduced the world’s 1st fully electronic instantaneous water heater (DHE).

In 1999, STIEBEL ELTRON introduced the LWZ 303 – its 1st product that combined all building services, such as ventilation, central heating, and domestic hot water (DHW) in a single product. Later, in 2007, it opened the largest and the most modern heat pump manufacturing plant in Europe. Combining new-age technology in its products, in 2015, STIEBEL ELTRON launched the DHE Connect – the 1st instantaneous water heater with WLAN and Bluetooth. That same year, at STIEBEL ELTRON’s headquarters in Holzminden, the company opened the award-winning, international training facility called the Energy Campus.
