Light + Building, set to be held from March 3 to 8, 2024, is the global trade fair for manufacturers specializing in lighting, electrical engineering, home and building automation, and connected security technology. Annetta Palmisano

World Architects
World Architects will take center stage on March 3, featuring Talks + Tours led by Sophia Klees at 11:00 a.m. and Prof. Andreas Schulz at 3:00 p.m. Additional guided tours in English are scheduled for March 6, with Sabine De Schutter at 11:00 a.m. and Ulrike Brandi at 2:00 p.m.

 

Designplus Awards by Light + Building 2024
The Designplus Awards by Light + Building are set to be announced at 1:30 p.m. In collaboration with Stylepark, an architecture and design magazine and platform, Messe Frankfurt will be the presenter of the awards. Throughout the fair, all winning products will be showcased in a dedicated exhibition in the passageway of the foyer in Hall 5.1/6.1. On March 4, Stylepark will engage in discussions with chosen winners of the Designplus Awards on stage. The EK Service Group will host an additional award ceremony, recognizing and honoring the ‘Retailer of the Year’ on March 4.

 

Simon Keane-Cowell
On March 5, Simon Keane-Cowell, the Architonic editor-in-chief from the DAAily platform group, will engage in a series of entertaining interviews exploring the challenges, opportunities, and latest advancements of lighting design and planning. The discussions will feature some of the most accomplished international A&D practitioners. The day will also witness the recognition of exemplary works in lighting design through the presentation of the German Lighting Design Award. Light + Building will present the nominees for 2024 during this event. Adding to the stage presence, Messe Frankfurt’s Italian subsidiary will contribute with a discussion on the theme ‘Right to housing.’

 

Design Plaza
On Wednesday, March 6, the Design Plaza will focus exclusively on light and lighting subjects when the Lighting Association of the German Electrical and Digital Industry Association (ZVEI) will take the stage. The event will bring together lighting experts for engaging roundtable discussions centered around the topics of sustainability, efficiency, and digitalization.

 

International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD)
March 7 will mark the first appearance of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) as they take the stage, promising a day filled with high-quality content.

 

Women in Lighting
On March 8, International Women’s Day, the ‘Women in Lighting’ project will celebrate its 5th anniversary at Light + Building 2024. The morning stage program will revolve around the theme ‘Inspire Inclusion,’ followed by a networking session at lunchtime.

The spotlight will shine on the experts in light and lighting at the Exhibitor Stage in Hall 5.0. In a first-time arrangement, there will be alternating specialist lectures and presentations by exhibitors from March 4 to 7.

Building Plaza, Hall 9.0, Stand D60

During the Power Creator Days on March 3 and 4, prominent content creators in the craft industry will come together for live events. The stage will witness the convergence of the online and social media world with trade fair action while content creators, visitors, and exhibitors will collectively pedal on charity bikes, generating energy. Messe Frankfurt will use the monetary sum raised through charity bikes and donate it to a charitable cause.

On March 5, MuP Verlag will host presentations on the subject of ‘Storing and managing energy’. (Please note that the lectures will be in German only.)

On March 8, the European industry organization REHVA will share insights on the theme of ‘Data Driven Smart Buildings’ at the Building Plaza.

BMWK areas with newcomers, Hall 9.0 / Hall 4.1

Aspiring entrepreneurs entering the industry will have a special place at Light + Building 2024. The Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) is organizing a joint stand situated in Hall 9.0 within the Electrical Engineering product area and in Hall 4.1 within the Technical Lighting product area.

 

E-House of the electrical trades, Hall 11.0 C07/D07

In 2024, the ZVEH’s E-House will center around the themes of ‘energy efficiency,’ ‘sustainable energy supply,’ and ‘smart health.’ One of the highlights will be the demonstration of an integrated energy management system, incorporating a PV system, storage unit, heat pump, and charging infrastructure for e-mobility. This system adeptly manages energy flows within the house based on the specific needs of its residents.

 

Exhibitor Stage @ Light + Building, Hall 11.0, FOY01

In 2024, a first for Light + Building, Hall 11.0 will now feature a stage showcasing specialist lectures on building technologies by exhibitors. From March 4 to 7, industry experts will share their knowledge on various selected topics from the built world.

 

BIM by BTGA, Hall 11/Portalhaus, Via Ebene, Stand B02

In 2024, the Federal Association of the Building Services Industry (BTGA) will showcase the ‘BIM Cave’ as the focal of their trade fair presentation. The BTGA trade fair stand will transform into a BIM model, providing visitors with a live experience and the chance to explore the advantages of this digital planning method.

 

IEECB&SC and European ESCO Conference, March 6-7, Portalhaus

The 12th International Conference on Improving Energy Efficiency in Commercial Buildings and Smart Communities (IEECB&SC’24) and the European ESCO Conference will serve as a meeting point for major stakeholders in the commercial buildings and neighborhood planning sectors. The conference will take place from March 6 and 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Portalhaus on level Via, room Frequenz.

 

House of Energy, March 5/6, Portalhaus

The annual House of Energy congress, taking place on March 6 and 7 in the Portalhaus, adopts the motto of ‘Connecting sustainable technologies together.’

 

ZVEI Technology Forum, Hall 12.1

The ZVEI Technology Forum places emphasis on the electrification and digitalization of the building sector. Experts from ZVEI member companies will provide a manufacturer-neutral and cross-product look at innovative solutions, systems, and changes to standards.
