Canadian wood collaborated with Ekbote Timber Homes to showcase a T&G house

The crown agency of the Provincial Government of British Columbia (B.C.), Forestry Innovation Consulting India Pvt. Ltd. is commonly known as Canadian Wood. Canadian wood has formed a collaboration with Ekbote Timber Homes which is a leading manufacturer of solid wood furniture and a timber homemaker. The collaboration worked together in the Index Fair Interior Design Exhibition, 2022 to display a tongue and groove style house. Also, the home was made from sustainably managed B.C. wood species. Furthermore, it was a demo built for promoting building with Canadian Wood and highlighting the tongue and groove technique of construction at the Index Fair Interior Design Exhibition.

The T&G building method’s pre-fabrication capabilities allow every component to be built and pre-finished in the factory, requiring only the final coat to be applied after construction. Therefore, the manufacturer can put together this building on-site in just a few hours.

Tongue and Groove style sustainable house

A sustainable house means a house that has the lowest environmental influence possible. Also, it includes building a house in a way that limits environmental toxins, conserves energy, and uses materials and resources sustainably.

Ekbote Timber Homes is committed to giving its customers long-lasting, environmentally friendly wooden homes. Canadian Wood supports Ekbote Timber Homes as a builder because of its active choice to use environmentally friendly wood species. This is aligned with the company’s goal of promoting the use of certified, sustainable wood. Furthermore, both sides joined together to present this concept based on their prior experience of working on incredibly successful projects.

The entire house was built from three different types of B.C. Canadian wood. These particular species were chosen due to their exceptional strengths and dimensional stability. Also, Spruce Pine Fir (S-P-F) was used to build the bed frame, fence for the patio, and the house’s framework. Western Red Cedar was used to make hanger stands, windows, entrance doors, decks, and an outdoor bench. Additionally, Douglas-fir was used to build the floors of the entire house.

Speaking on this collaboration, Canadian Wood said–

“It was an absolute pleasure to collaborate with Ekbote Timber Homes to display this tongue and groove style house at the exhibition that turned out to be a huge success. Canadian Wood, as a company, has always believed in sustainable and legal harvesting of wood. It is good to see that the customers in India are becoming more environmentally sensitive. This is driving experts in the wood sector to progressively transition to using certified wood that has been legally procured for their projects.”

Commenting on the collaboration Ekbote Timber Homes said–

“I am extremely satisfied with how the finished demo house has come out. Using Canadian Wood for this tongue and groove style house was the right choice. Canadian Wood has always believed in leading by example. It does so by collaborating with other local companies as well as their stockists to promote B.C. as a long-term supplier of certified wood from sustainably managed forest.”
