Forestry Innovation Consulting India Pvt. Ltd., popularly known as Canadian Wood, recently conducted a webinar on ‘Wood in Structural use (II) – Building Techniques’ to create awareness about Canadian wood species, specific applications, and appropriate methods of use in India. This was the 2nd in the series of webinars by Canadian Wood. It aimed to inform and showcase possibilities of constructing wooden houses as well as other such wood structures.
Canadian Wood hosted its first webinar on ‘Wood in Structural Use: Features and Benefits’, in response to the rising interest in the use of wood in structural applications, post its engagement with woodworking companies in India on demo projects as well as the display of the two wooden houses on its booth at the IndiaWood show in March 2020.
Following this, Webinar-2, involving more advanced knowledge – this time on ‘Wood in Structural use – Building Techniques’ took place; wherein the emphasis was on the detailing involved in different styles and techniques of building with wood.

Wood building webinar in brief
There is a growing interest amongst Architects, Real Estate Developers, and Hospitality Industry, to use wood as construction material. Hence, the session addressed the different requirements. Additionally, private villas, country homes, and farmhouses in wood are fast catching the fancy of the HNIs in India. The emphasis of the session was on the detailing involved in different styles, designs, methods, and techniques of building with wood. Building methods such as Tongue & Groove (T & G), Wood Frame Construction (WFC), Posts and Beams, and Hybrid style which is using wood in tandem with local stone or bricks were demonstrated to the audience. Moreover, it accompanied credible examples of several successful projects that Canadian Wood has partnered in. In these projects, Canadian Wood provided material or technical assistance or both, across India for building wood structures.
